Nepotism can be defined as the act of using and influence unethically to get near and dear ones a good work or a good job.
Nepotism in Bollywood is a hot topic in India these days. Ever since Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide at his Mumbai residence on June 14 2020, the focus is on how talented actors are made to suffer by the high and mighty of Bollywood. It is not a new phenomenon.
It all started with Kangana Ranaut calling Karan Johar the “flag-bearer of nepotism” during a controversial Koffee With Karan TV episode.
The debate on talent (without a Godfather) versus lineage (children of a star) has been raging.
If Bollywood is not about nepotism and favouritism, then why a major number of actors do not reach one level up, where the world starts noticing them. Why till date, we do not even have a good number of Bollywood stars with international recognition? Reason is as clear and bitter as ice – For years and years we get to see the same sparkling yet hollow faces who do not even know the number of opportunities they have snatched, just because they belong to a good old Bollywood clan.
We saw the seeds of nepotism easily sprouting in Bollywood. Actors with pure talent are sidelined due to first priorities given to recommendations. And the worst part is, if an outsider tries to raise his voice, he is slammed, cursed and denoted a wanna be seeking attention.
Nepotism or not, star kids have always been a part of Bollywood. There is no denying the fact that star kids also need to work hard and earn their stardom.
Some of those who made an entry riding on family names made a quick exit, while others like Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol, Hritik Roshan, Jahnvi Kapoor have carved a niche for themselves without depending on their star parents.
Karan Johar is not only the one who practises nepotism also others.
His casting choices have created the impression that he certainly is the most eminent of the upholders of his diabolical phenomenon of filmi-nepotism. He also slammed some people because they are worthless .
Many people thinks that the film industry callous way that led to depression of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Even many musicians and artists in the film industry had faced nepotism.
Nepotism didn't start with Karan Johar
But should end with Sushant Singh Rajput.
